I bought these loudspeakers in April, 2018 from an authorized dealer, shipped directly to Utah from the U.S. distributor in Nevada. I have owned several larger and much costlier loudspeakers, and the SCM 40's are better in many ways. Of course, the dome midrange renders legendary clarity and detail. Equally impressive are the ATC designed and built tweeters in the Gen 2, bettering RAAL ribbons and Accuton diamond tweeters in other loudspeakers I've owned. These tweeters are seamlessly integrated with the dome midrange. The infinite baffle wooofer enclosure gives extraordinarily precise and solid bass, and allows location close to back wall. For me, no need to add a subwoofer. I used an 80W/ch integrated amp with no need for higher power. At their modest size and weight (just under 70 pounds each, with rock solid cabinets) the SCM 40s have no rivals. The active version has its advocates, but the passive version allows flexible pairing with amplification both solid state and tube.
These were to be the loudspeakers I took into upcoming retirement, and I really chose well. Unfortunately, I need to pay unexpected out of pocket medical bills. So these must go.
At this time the loudspeakers are local pickup only, though I will drive a reasonable distance to deliver them if the offer is right. I have all the packing materials except the boxes, not ever expecting to let the SCM 40's go. These loudspeakers are well worth a trip to beautiful northern Utah.
Thanks for looking.
