Yamaha's next-to-the top separate pre amplifier. Selectable moving coil or moving magnet of the Phono stage from the back panel.
Quiet is the key. At frequency's above 2 Khz, where the ear is most sensitive to noise, the CX-2 is considerably quieter than a theoretical perfect CD (if there were such a thing) playing a theoretically perfect recording 18-bit CD. Few other preamps are that quite.
No remote, but am the original owner. Used it until I switched to Bryston BP-25, then on to tubes, but now into solid state again.
