I currently own the older E-260, and it's a Gorgeous piece of equipment, hand-built to superlative standards, a joy to look at and
mesmerizing to listen to. Music has my Complete attention,
I'm unable to do anything else while listening to it, and the analyzing of my system vanished from my mind. I
soon realized that this is an end-game, and that my constant thinking
about the next upgrade is gone. I just started looking for more
music to buy, as there was no longer a need to do anything else system-wise...
Presentation
of my E-260 is SMOOTH and organic with velvety high frequencies and palpable,
pleasant and sweet midrange. Bass is warm, authoritive and engaging, yet
tight and articulate. It's is forgiving with lesser quality
recordings, but also showcases the best quality sources to their
fullest. Speakers completely disappear and you are presented with vocals
in the dead-center of a world-class sounstage. Just an all around
stunner.
But the E-270 has TWICE the damping factor and HALF the distortion of the E-260.
It has a superior power supply, higher power output, and cooler operating temperature. It has 33% larger capacitors than any previous model. Therefore the E-270 will have even quieter backround and lower noise-floor than any prior model.
Plus it's a current model with full warranty.
