UPDATE:
The deck turns on, though the power button can stick. Wind, Rewind, Stop works, Play is curious... the play button may be stuck, but it only plays when the button is held down. The meters work... everything appears to work, though without threading a tape I can't confirm every function (like record). This item should go to a buyer who has resources repair the item IF NEED BE. This is a consignment piece that was taken from a client who cared dearly for all of his audio gear, that should be apparent by the condition and the fact that all the accessories and manuals were retained from circa 1975. I have every reason to believe that everything works perfectly, I just can't test it!! I don't want to spoil the NOS tapes either, so to an extent it's buy at your own (slight) risk.
Buy it now cheaper, before one of my other clients brings in a tape to check it and I discover it works perfectly (and subsequently raise the price)!
I've lowered the asking price to reflect an as-is sale. PLEASE COME AND PICK IT UP!!! I've shipped one of these before in a custom made crate to protect it along its short UPS journey, and it was STILL DESTROYED. I won the claim, but the deck was beyond repair. Unless the buyer assumes ALL the risk and arrangement of shipping, this item is available for local pickup only :-( sorry.
