Up for sale is a classic Marantz Model 19 stereo receiver.  The Model 19 was a no-holds-barred project for Marantz back in 1970.  Designed by Saul Marantz and Sid Smith, it was actually hand-built and calibrated by Marantz technicians - thus the "Custom Calibrated" badge on the middle of the front panel.  The Model 19 sold for $1000 when it came out, and jumped to $1200 in '71.   That's about $7500 in 2019 dollars - this was quite an exclusive flagship product for Marantz at the time.

We got our hands on this receiver back in January, and immediately turned it over to Jeff Hall at Muse Audio Services to repair a bad power supply.  This receiver was definitely worthy of a restoration, so in addition to repairing the power supply, Jeff also replaced bad FETs and realigned the FM section; resoldered any suspect solder connections, and cleaned all of the switches and controls.  The metal grille cage had some spots where the paint was peeling, so we stripped it down and gave it a new coat of paint (carefully masking off all of the original stickers & labels!).  All controls and features function correctly, with one exception - the FM section outputs mono only; no stereo.  All other inputs work great in stereo, and sound great too!

The 7/10 rating for condition is for age only - as you can see in the photos, this receiver is in amazing shape for being nearly 50 years old!

The fine print:

We are Overture Audio, a high quality retail audio and home theater store established in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1989.  We sometimes offer used components and equipment we have taken in on trade for sale on Audiogon or eBay.  In addition to our perfect feedback ratings, you have the reassurance that we are a real brick and mortar store, and you can get in touch with us Tuesday through Saturday during normal store hours at (734) 662-1812.

The equipment listed is also for sale in our retail store – items may be sold in-store, so the listing may be cancelled at any time.

Unless otherwise noted, we ship our equipment to the lower 48 only, via UPS ground service.  If you’d like to use a faster form of UPS, just let us know – it’s your equipment and money!  Everything we offer for sale through Audiogon and eBay is guaranteed to arrive in proper working condition, but none of the equipment includes any kind of warranty, and all sales are final.  If you have any questions about a component, or what is included with it, please ask.  If the ad doesn’t mention a remote or manual being included, it probably isn’t!  Most of the equipment we sell on Audiogon and eBay is used – we take a lot of effort to give you accurate descriptions and provide good photos.  Although most of our trades have been well cared for, they probably didn’t spend their lives in a vacuum.  If you are likely to get bent out of shape by a smudge here or a nick there, please call or email us so we can give you detailed information before you buy.

We accept credit card payments over the phone, or you are welcome to send a money order or cashiers check to us at:

You will be subject to 6% Michigan sales tax if you pick up your item here at our store, or if we ship it to a Michigan address.

If any of the above information seems unclear or unreasonable, please contact us for clarification before you bid or buy.
