All tube VTL preamp (2 x 12AU7 and 2 x 6350). Preamp has extensively upgraded by Bill Thalman at Music Technology in Virginia. All the stock Wima caps have been upgraded to Auricaps. Standard diodes replaced with hyperfast soft recovery diodes for “blacker blacks”. Plate resistors on input tubes upgraded to Dales and Mills. Relevant power supply caps bypassed with Auricaps for lower ESR values. Also, stock tube sockets upgraded to ceramic. The sound difference between this unit and stock is quite significant and is in fact closer in sound to the VTL 5.5. I added a picture of a stock TL 2.5 for comparison (pic #4). also included is the original all metal remote.
