I’m selling this excellent condition Shunyata Hydra Talos Power Conditioner along with a Shunyata Research Zitron Alpha HC Power Cable, both of which I bought new and have served my audio system well for several years. I’m
selling the Talos because I need 8 outlets and this unit has only 6 outlets. The Talos
unit has done a splendid job of reducing noise in my system, without detriment
to the transparency, tonality and dynamic range of my high-end audio gear. There
are no caps and or coils to degrade the sound or limit current. The unit is heavy-duty
steel and aluminum construction to reduce resonance and provide solid support
for the connecting power cables. It is 17” wide x 16” deep x 4” high and weighs
23 pounds, with a distinctive thick brushed aluminum faceplate. It has been a
very reliable, trouble free power conditioner and distributor, to power all my
components from a single wall receptacle. There are no parts to wear out or
require maintenance, so it should last a lifetime. It includes over voltage
surge suppression and over current protection with a hydraulic electromagnetic
breaker that does not introduce noise into the signal path.

Now, here is the kicker. Not just any power cable works with
the Talos. It only accepts as input a 20A IEC C19 power cable, and because
power to all system components flows through a single main cable, that cable
needs to be top quality, high current capable and a good sonic partner with the
Talos. What made the Talos work so well in my system was the power cable I selected
and purchased separately – a 6-foot long (1.75 meters) 20A Shunyata Zitron
Alpha HC power cable, with a heavy duty plug that fits the Talos 20A IEC C20 power
inlet. The Zitron high current (HC) power cable with its own noise reduction
capability enhances the noise-reduction filters of the Talos to bring clarity
and life to the sound of my entire system in a very positive, musically satisfying
way. Before the Zitron Alpha HC, I was using a good, but lower caliber 20A
power cable with the Talos and felt the system sounded a little dull and veiled,
but after replacing that cable with the Zitron, I was for the first time
captivated by the sound of my system and never felt the need to upgrade to the
Triton or other power conditioning system. I read in the forums that others also
found the Zitron Alpha HC power cable a good match with their Talos and other
Hydra systems. The cable was not cheap – it cost half as much as the Talos! In
the photos you can see the quality of its construction. The cable is 6-feet (1.75
meters) long to offer more noise reduction capability and it has heavy duty
terminations.

This is a great opportunity to get BOTH the excellent Talos
power conditioner and the compatible Zitron Alpha HC power cable at a very
reasonable combined price. The two complement each other so well that there is
really no need for the buyer to look for and audition 20A IEC C19 power cables
that are a synergistic match with the Talos. The Talos and Zitron power cable will
be packed and shipped in the original Talos box within the manufacturer’s shipping
carton.
