Questions for the seller
Being 10AWG cables, do you think/know if these will work well with preamp or CD player, meaning improve the sound of them?
I'd say aroung 50% of my sales are for multiplke cables. 3 or 4 on average. These buyers are installing them system wide, like I do, with great results. It will do great on a pre or source, but not because it's 10awg, because they're all copper, has great quality parts and, if I may say so, very good built quality. The fact it's 10AWG won't hurt the sound of course. I think the reasoning for using them on sources and preamps is they still cost less than most 'all-copper', well built, 12awg or even 14awg cables... Cheers, Rich
Are these shielded and what type of shield(s)?
Hi, Being that these are 10awg cables, most people will use them amplifiers, it's best for them not to shielded. Shielded cables are widely believed to hinder amplifier's dynamics. Also, amp's larger power supplies filters out noise. Remember, many high end power conditioner are built almost exactly like amplifiers. The huge toroïdal transformers act as barriers between the dirty AC power on the grid and the clean DC power they emit. Same stays true with an amplifier. A well designed one anyway. Personally, I don't even use shielding on my streamer. I get better results without. With sources I think it's really case by case. Depends on how much EMI/ RFI you've got floating around your sound system.
What's the burn in time for these cords.
Most people, including myself, noted a marked improvement in bass performance from the get go. People have also noted improved soundstage, performance in mids and other more subtle differences, mostly in the first few hours. I'm not completely excluding the idea of more changes over time but I think you'll get a very good idea of what sound to expect very early on.
What are the benefits to a 20a connector
It's less a question of which is better, it depends what kind of socket you amp has. You would only buy a power cable with a 20A connector if your amplifier requires it because it has a 20A socket. The copper is usually slightly thicker because it must able to sustain a 20A signal without overheating... but most amplifiers will never go over 10A for more than a fraction of a second.
Hi can you supply with a female 20amp end
Hi! Yes I can. It is a Wattgate 20A connector. Sonarquest doesn't make a 20A. Just add 30.00$ to the price.
