VPI Industries Super ScoutMaster

Selling my VPI Super ScoutMaster in excellent condition. The condition of the table, arm and SDS is close to perfect (the 8 rating is due to age, looks more like a 9). It had new belts installed when I bought it and it has always been used in a smoke-free environment. At my asking price, I will include a 1.25m Nordost Heimdall phono cable (retail $660), which is recommended with the JMW tonearm.

I have paired the table with a Soundsmith Zephyr MIMC cartridge which I bought new and used for about 250 hours. The cartridge was developed specifically for VPI turntables and sounds full, relaxed and detailed in this setup. The cartridge is not included in my asking price but I am willing to sell it also, if there is interest. New retail for the cartridge is $1995 and I am happy to consider a package deal.

The turntable comes in three boxes, so shipping is considerable and this thing is heavy! Boxes are original and manuals for the table, arm and SDS are also included.

The VPI Super Scoutmaster Signature turntable adds the HR-X Mini feet to the standard SSM, and also adds the SDS turntable drive system. Note!! I am not including the periphery ring clamp or any cartridge-the cartridge included in the photos is solely for appearance in the photos, and is NOT included! Basically, this is a relatively rare, "super" VPI turntable in a compact form factor. VPI took the standard Scoutmaster and dramatically upgraded it by adding the outstanding drive system (flywheel and dual motors) from the HRX and beefing up the chassis. Lastly, they added the SDS drive system to ensure superb speed stability even further. And yet, the whole thing will fit on a standard shelf. A remarkable performer.
