I am offering for sale a newly completed BeePre 2 Preamplifier by Bottlehead. This is the latest version of the BeePre preamp and sounds great when paired with a suitable power amp. It uses 300B vacuum tubes for a very linear and clean response.
Specifications: Input impedance is 70K ohms with the balance control centered. Output impedance is 3K ohms at maximum. Gain at 1kHz is 6 dB. Frequency response is -3 dB points at 7 Hz and 110 kHz. S/N with supplied tubes is -70 dB with 2V signal input. THD is 0.21% at 1 kHz at 2 Vrms output. Maximum onset of clipping (which presents itself as a very gradual rounding of the sine waye trough) is 32 Vrms. Three RCA inputs and one RCA output.
The alder wood base has been finished with a five-coat hand-rubbed polyurethane finish. The wooden base comes complete with the Bottlehead badge. The transformer bell has been finished in hammered silver. The stock Electro-Harmonix 300B tubes are included (about 10 hours of break-in time, so not fully broken in, yet the preamp sounds great!). Also included is a (new) power cord and original build instructions for both BeePre 2 (neither are pictured).
As for my credentials to build tube amplifiers properly, I have degrees (B.S. and M.S.) in electrical engineering and experimental physics and in the early part of my career I spent some years doing mainly electronic work (electronic design, assembly, testing, and software design) in the research and development department of an instrumentation company in Sweden. I know electronics and can easily tell the difference between a good solder joint and a cold one. I like to build tube amps for fun.
I will guarantee the quality and performance of this amp and will accept returns for a full refund of the purchase price if you are not satisfied for any reason. The BeePre 2 will be well-packed to ensure that no damage to the electronics or the wooden base occurs in shipment.
