VPI HW-19 ULTIMATE TURNTABLE

 

Ultimate??? Did VPI made an
ULTIMATE MODEL????

 

Start with a late production
model HW-19 Mk IV turntable.

Add the following to the TT:

 

Add an almost mint VPI TALL
dustcover.

Replace the hinges with NOS
VPI hinges

 

Remove the original MKIV
platter – (A TNT MKI Platter)

Add a VPI TNT Mk III platter…
upgrade again…

Remove the TNT MKIII plater.

Add a VPI TNT Mk V platter –
21 lbs. of Delrin and Stainless steel

 

Add a VPI late model SAMA.
This model is the second version that is triangular shaped

and has the black industrial
finish and weighs approx. 2 lbs. less the than original SAMA.

Upgrade again ….

Remove the late model SAMA
and install the original Stainless steel round SAMA.

REBUILD

Install a brand-new motor in
the stainless SAMA. To insure another 20 years of service.

 

Rebuild and upgrade the
spindle bearing. Remove and clean the spindle and bearing housing.

Remove the original steel
ball bearing and install an upgraded Ceramic Nitride ball bearing.

 

That is why I take the
liberty to call this TT a HW-19 Ultimate!

 

This is a true HW-19 MKIV and
as can be seen by the replaceable/interchangeable arm boards. It has the thick
acrylic top plate and the stainless bottom plate.

Not to be confused with the
HW-19 Juniors that use the inferior one-piece plate that has to be drilled for
one arm mount only … and then your usually stuck with that one arm! And most
were drilled/fitted with entry level/economy arms. This TT should be matched
with a top arm!

I used it with a Graham
Phantom, Triplanar and an Origin Live Illustrious.

 

Included with the TT are three armboards(two pictured); a new blank undrilled armboard (shown
in the pics with the brown protective paper attached), a Triplanar armboard which
only has three small mounting holes as the Triplanar is surface mount only and
another board that I think-not sure is 
LINN geometry. The Triplanar board can easily be reused and the unknown
board can be flipped and repurposed if needed. Plenty of options to get the new
owner on the road to excellent vinyl spinning….

 

The TT appears very good with
minimal signs of age/use. The platter shows a few smudges on the Delrin. The
dust cover looks above average with no scratches and a few cleaning swirls.

TT comes with the TNT one
piece record clamp and the rubber washer that fits on the top of the
platter/under the record. The SAMA also comes with the usually missing
stainless dampener the fits over the pully.
