Aric Audio Super 211 SET

       Up for sale is my personal Super 211 SET, which has only been played in my shop, and it is in perfect condition. This amplifier was reviewed very favorably by 6 Moons, and there is an upgrade that takes it to another level.
       Inter-stage transformers are used between the driver and the 211 tubes which gives the ability to drive the amplifier into class A2, which effectively allows the amplifier to drive many more less efficient speakers with added grip and control (mostly noticeable in the bass range).  
     This amplifier uses 6SN7s as the input stage, triode-strapped EL34s as the drivers, and can run 211s or 845s via the flip of two switches on the top of the amplifier, and different output taps. Output power is 30 watts per channel using 211s and 35 watts per channel using 845s. 
      I will include a full compliment of tubes: Tung Sol 6SN7s, Tung Sol EL34s, and a set of PsVane T2 series 211s AND 845s. as well as the "slow start" valve damper diode (6CG3) and a pair of the OC3 regulators.   
NOTE: At the current price of $7,000 which is already over 30% off MSRP, I will include a set of PsVane ACME 211 tubes in addition to the other tubes listed above. These tubes cost over $900 for a pair, and the pair I will include has less than 300 hours on them. I will cancel the listing if it does not sell at this price.   
     Two umbilical cords and a power cord will also be included. This amplifier will be shipped in two, large boxes with heavy fillers/liners of styro-foam to protect them. Note that the power supply alone weighs over 55 lbs and the amplifier weighs just over 35 lbs. Note that this customized amplifier will produce more power with an even better frequency response due to the inter-stage transformers.   A few other upgrades which I failed to mention- this unit uses Hammond 300 series power transformers which are close to double the weight and price of their standard 200 series. These transformers are running at 50% duty cycle in this amp- which means quieter and cooler operation! I also have used Audyn metalized poly caps as bypasses in the EL34 cathode circuit which lifted a slight veil in the sound. The main coupling capacitors between the 6SN7 and the EL34 are Audyn True Copper, metalized copper foil capacitors and they sound fantastic- loads of depth, detail retrieval and dimensionality!

        The 211 and 845 transmitter tubes have always represented somewhat of an enigma- a large power tube typically run in single ended, and originally used in WWI to transmit radio signals across battlefields, and used voltages in excess of 1,000 volts on the plates to maximize linearity and amplification. Many current amplifier designs try to run these tubes at lower voltages, (and without a robust driver) which prevents them from producing more than 15-20 watts. As such- they do not realize the full glory these tubes have to offer. The Aric~Audio Super 211 SET's goals are to execute a proper single ended build utilizing these two famous tubes, without any Achilles Heel in order to present the full spectrum.    
      The driver for the power tube is- another power tube. An EL34 run in Triode-strapped mode provides a very low output impedance and loads of voltage swing (over 200V PP), to push the grid of the 211/845 even when it's drawing positive grid current- such as what occurs when these tubes are run at anything over 10-15 watts. Using a proper power supply strictly for the driver and input tubes, allows the amplifier to produce up to 35 watts of low distortion power.
