Excellent ModWright statement active vacuum tube standalone phono preamp, transformer-coupled, companion to the LS-300 linestage (listed elsewhere here). This is an exceptionally flexible and objective-sounding phono preamps with excellent accommodations for the full spectrum of moving coil and moving magnet phono cartridges encountered in high end audio. See specs/features below. It's also exceedingly quiet, in part thanks to its solid state outboard power supply. The Power Supply is connected to the preamp with a 4' umbilical, included.
I am selling this for a friend. Retail price for the PH-150 is $7895. This unit was lightly-used by a listener with multiple phono electronics and digital diversions. It is about five years old but in great condition. I graded it as "Good" to be conservative but it's better than that -- right between Audiogon's criteria for Good and Very Good. Electrically, it's essentially used just enough to be burned in.
The PH-150 uses a pair of 6C45, and a pair of 6922 family tubes, both included and test as new. Plenty of life left in both pairs. One of the quietest tube phono preamps I've heard. Two great features on this preamp seldom found on modern phono preamps: Mono/Stereo switch (front panel); Phase Switch (rear panel). Single-ended and Balanced outputs.
The preamp will be shipped in two factory cartons.
From ModWright:
"...An Astounding Level of Flexibility and Control
The PH 150 is an all tube-transformer coupled phono stage (2 x 6C45 and 2 x 6922/6DJ8/7308 tubes) with an external solid state power supply. Max gain for moving coil cartridges is 72dB, and for moving magnet it is 57 dB. There are RCA and fully balanced XLR outputs, as well as a phase toggle switch on the rear. Resistive and capacitive loading may be adjusted on-the-fly via front panel controls. Gain may also be adjusted in 0, -6dB and -12dB steps on-the-fly for both MM and MC inputs. Inputs may also be switched on-the-fly, from MM to MC carts for tables with multiple arms.
"The PH150 has no flaws, presenting a seamless top-to-bottom eloquence that is magnetic and alluring. " - Part Time Audiophile
