I'm selling one of the few exceptional phono stage on the market; the Audio Research Reference Phono 3SE. Please do no get confused with Phono 3, this is the latest version 3SE which is far superior.

This high end phono stage has many qualities: huge tridimensional soundstage, superb level of details, beautiful and precise midrange, ultra fast and dynamic, aerial highs and profound bass and super natural sound signature. You can't go wrong with this tube phono preamp if you want the best from your analog equipment.

I really love this tube phono stage. The best I had so far and it's really sad that I have to let it go. I'm selling both my high-end phono preamps because I have to make space for a new current injection phono preamp needed for my new very low internal impedance and output cartridges. I also have a Zesto Andros Deluxe II for sale on a Canadian website.

This phono stage is in pristine condition and plays beautifully. I'm the original owner. Includes: Original shipping box, accessories, remote, owner manual.

Reference Phono 3SE is part of Stereophile's Recommended Component 2021 Edition in the Phono Preamp Class A section.

Payment by Bank Wire is preferred. Paypal is possible for Audiogon members with history and multiple positive feedback. Paypal fees of 3.5% and shipping is at buyer's expense.

It's the first time I'm selling a piece of equipment on Audiogon. I have 2 positive buyer's feedback including one of $78,000USD. As a Canadian, I buy and sell mostly on Canuck Audio Mart where I have more than 50 positive feedbacks. I also have more than 200 feedbacks on Ebay.

Please take a look at my feedbacks and buy with confidence:

Michael Fremer wrote a review recently. Here's a short abstract:
"I just listened to many records, including the original "Living Stereo" and Analogue Productions reissue of the Reiner/CSO Pictures at an Exhibition (LSC-2201) and Vol.1 of the aforementioned Ravel Complete Orchestral Works (Daphnis et Chloé), which through the SE was dazzlingly open, transparent, and spacious on top with string tone and texture and choir vocals that produced unmeasurable sensory chills—or I must have imagined them. The top was so open

I ended up loading both the PP-2000 and the Ortofon Anna D at 50 ohms. I then played the same program through the Ypsilon and then the CH. I concluded that the upgrade, like the original Ref 3, "gets the instrumental harmonic structure exactly right." But now the top end is even more open and especially transparent—not all that different, much to my surprise, from the solid state CH Precision. The CH, though, is drier and less timbrally generous. Just the way it is."

From the manufacturer:

The Reference Phono 3SE phono preamplifier is housed in a single chassis with heavy, machined aluminum side panels and special acrylic top and bottom covers for the best sound. The vacuum-tube audio stage utilizes six 6H30 vacuum tubes (three per channel), while one 6H30 and a 6550WE provide regulation in the power supply. The large, vacuum fluorescent display on the front panel shows all functions relative to the selected input. A row of six buttons controls power, mute, input, and menu controls. Menu functions include auto shutdown, gain and load settings, display brightness, equalization settings (RIAA, Columbia and Decca), and accumulated tube hours. High- and low-gain settings, as well as six fixed and one custom impedance setting, can accommodate most any moving coil or moving magnet cartridge. Two single-ended inputs provide connectivity to two turntables. There are two main outputs providing both balanced and single-ended outputs. RS-232 and IR input allow for additional control options. The Reference Phono 3 includes a full-function remote control.
