JPS Labs ABYSS AB-1266 Phi

If you're reading this listing. you've no doubt heard all the praise, maybe even read the reviews quoted below. So, do these actually live up to all the hype? Nope . . . they exceed it.
Take it from someone who's listened to headphones for 50+ years, owns (and loves) a pair of Focal Stellia's and ZMF Verite C's - the Abyss are in a class all their own. The only reason I'm letting these go is because I was so impressed, I plunked down the (considerable) extra cash for the Phi TC model.

The JPS Abyss AB-1266 Phi headphones , like such "notorious legacy products" as the Wilson Audio WAMM loudspeaker of 1983 and the Audio Note Ongaku amplifier of 1993, "exist in categories of price and performance all their own." The original AB-1266 was already one of the greatest achievements in headphones ever produced, but this new version takes that performance a step further. The new model retains the bass depth and power of the original, but tightens up pitch definition and transient performance. The mids are slightly more forward for a more neutral overall balance. The top end is even more airy and extended. Finally, the Phi model is much easier to drive. One of the few legitimate contenders for the state of the art. - The Absolute Sound
