The long awaited Western Electric 300B tube is finally here. You can read all the factory hype at their website. I have listened to a new set for a few days and my impressions are very positive. I owned a pair of the 90's re-issue tubes and must say these new production tubes are a big improvement. First they are the most quiet 300B I have ever heard. Compared to any other 300B tubes it is night and day. Putting my ear up to the speaker I can only hear a very faint hum. You really have to listen to hear it.. My 300B mono blocks are AC heated as well. Second they are perfectly voiced from top to bottom with an impressive transient attack. Rated at 40,000 hours it is the last 300B you will ever need.
