Model Fyne F704 with substantial upgrades in walnut finish. I can’t see a blemish on them. Smoke, pet, and child free home.

I contacted and was given direction from Fyne’s lead designer regarding the details of select upgrades. I perform upgrades on crossovers and electronics for customers as was also an audio cable manufacturer. I have worked on many dozens of audio gear pieces over the years. All upgraded crossover parts were critically matched within .5% tolerance between left and right speaker. The parts cost me $1500 reflecting my discount. I have about 25 labor hours into these. Purchased new just 9 months ago. Here are the upgrade specifics:

- Jupiter foil & wax capacitor on the tweeter
- Clarity CSA capacitor on the mids
- Combination of Audio Note Kaisei and Sonic Cap Gen 1 capacitors on the bass driver
- Audience Auricap XO caps
- Mills MRA resistors
- Mundorf Ultra 30 resistor with heat sink installation
- Goertz 1.5mh, 12 gauge, copper foil, air core inductors on mids
- KLEI Classic Harmony binding posts
- Bybee Quantum Clarifier on bass drivers - lower driver on each speaker
- All internal wire upgraded to Neotech solid core UPOCC copper in Teflon. See pics. I used combinations of 12,14,16 and 18 gauge depending on driver.

These parts replaced lower priced stock parts such as sand cast resistors, iron core inductors, entry level film caps and moderate quality internal hook-up wire. The new foil type air core inductor has the exact same resistance (DCR) spec as the much smaller iron core inductor it replaced. Yes, it sounds so much better. All upgraded caps and resistors match the original part values perfectly.

While upgrading the parts I also improved the part to part soldering execution by NOT using the crossover board tab connectors to pass signal. The tabs are still there and only used to secure the parts in place. True part to part wiring was employed for superior sound quality.

The result is an F704 that sounds some 25% better - on the conservative side in my opinion and experience. The stock F704 is fantastic and if Fyne placed the same parts I placed in my set, then they would need to increase the price to $25,000-$27,000. Current price of the F704 is $19,000. Fyne has cost constraints to adhere to and that makes perfect sense. Fyne’s more expensive F1 series, for instance, uses the Neotech brand of wire I decided to use in this set.

The drivers and cabinet in the F704 are just first rate. I am very impressed with the build quality of both. Well done Fyne!

The speaker’s mids are even more fully fleshed out now. The speaker is more open with improved natural ease and tone. A more refined sounding version of the great performing stock 704. Highs are smoother and more articulate at the same time. The soundstage size is very large with hard hitting dynamics when called for. Bass is most authoritative and articulate. Below is a little note from my wife also known as “The Audiophiles Wife”. She wrote a bit on these speakers in her blog. We will both greatly miss these. More on our move and reason for selling after her comments.

“AND THAT'S WHERE I HAVE TO CHIME IN: I am The Audiophile's Wife, and I am married to The Audiophile who happens to be the seller of these speakers. I won't go into the reasons for us moving, I will simply confirm we are moving. I will also confirm that while I'm designing our new house and attending to roughly four thousand other details, The Audiophile is focusing on selling this pair of speakers THAT I LOVE. Sure, they are big enough to serve as his and her caskets should one or both of us perish of unnatural causes, but they have many other positive attributes: 1) They are Fyne, mighty Fyne; 2) Everyone who walks in the door gasps at their beauty; 3) God has them in His listening room just to keep the heavenly hosts on their toes; 4) They are the first pair of speakers that have made me cry real tears during a critical listening session. That is all. Trust me. Buy them.”

Ok, back to me. We purchased these speakers because they sound magnificent in our large 34 x 26 space. We intended to stay here as our “forever” home. Well, circumstances beyond our control have forced us to move. Hard reality for us, but I won’t bore you with the details. The Mightly Fynes will not fit in my new bedroom listening room. Just won’t be a good fit, thus the sale. We will greatly miss these wonderful speakers.

I have all the original packing, pallets, spikes, grills and such. Want a local sale or pick up if possible. Pick up buyer will be given priority. They can be heard in my system.

Cashiers check, cash or another mutually acceptable payment arrangement. I am no longer a PayPal member.  I am very well known here and my feedback speaks for itself. I have priced these attractively and they are a wonderful value to the right buyer.

Thanks for looking,

Bill
