I am selling most of my personal stock of vacuum tubes as I have way more stock than I will ever need.  I obtained all my tubes from top level suppliers. This tube is from Brent Jessee Recording Supply (see box picture which shows BJ's own testing data).

Branded RCA this 6550(A) tube is of classic GE manufacture.  It is missing its RCA red ink logo on the tube glass.  A common problem with many very old NOS tubes (at some point in warehousing the red RCA logo, rubbed off).  Therefore, I am listing it at as an 8 but it is NOS.  Some people love and demand the logo's, some don't.  I am in the latter class.  Frankly, as long as the tubes are genuine, clean, test strong NO, and sound superb, I don't care if it has the logo or not.

I have graded the tube an 8 for the missing RCA logo.

This tube has the GE sand blasted dot matrix date coding on the tube (see first picture).  I have yet to be able to properly decipher GE's dot matrix date coding.  Having said that, this RCA box is from mid design RCA box design.  Most likely late 1960's to early 1970's.

The classic three getter GE structure (two at the top, one on the side) is shown in the photos.  Nice flashings on the top and side. Super clean glass, including the metal base.

Tube test specs from my Maximatcher tube tester:

Tube 1
Date Code Dot Matrix GE
Plate Current 35.5
Gm 4.14

Orange tester tube test: 8

GE tubes are outstanding in power supplies (ARC, etc.).  In fact, many believe them to be the best sounding 6550 design for that application.  I have many GE 6550(A) tubes in my personal stock for my ARC 40Th Anniversary Reference preamplifier.  I would clasify them as being superbly musical, open, airy, superbly dynamic, with a tight strong deep bass and outstanding for listening to stringed instruments due to their extremely low noise floor (typically).  I love the tube in my preamplifier for guitar, and small chamber ensemble SACD recordings.

My price is, for obvious reasons, not negotiable.

I will pack securely with bubble wrap and packing peanuts and ship in the continental USA only via USPS priority shipping, insured, and signature required.  Shipping fee is $18.

PayPal fee is included in my listing price.
