If you're interested in selling your Sony SCD-1 or 777ES, whether it's in disuse, displaying intermittent glitches, or totally broken, I'm interested in taking it off your hands as a parts donor to help resuscitate mine.
It's a pity Sony abandoned these flagship units so soon, cutting off both repair and parts availability to their loyal owners.
Without reliable parts, virtually all techs, including those provided SCD Mods, stopped servicing them as well, and thus began the Dark Age for SCD-1 and 777ES owners like us.
As a result there are a lot of unhappy campers unable to repair and enjoy their players yet loathe to dispose of them out of nostalgia. There's a good reason behind that frequently heard expression "my favorite paperweight"...
If you're open to moving on and interested in letting it go as a parts unit to help others at a reasonable price, please send me an email with the following (all quick and easy):
- Specify your model as either the SCD-1 or 777ES. Sorry, but I'm not considering any other Sony player.
- List it's symptoms prior to retirement or passing (like "no Disc", occasional failure to read, reads CD's but not SACD's, display doesn't work, to name a few),
- Let me know if has been previously repaired by you, or it's original owner and what was wrong with it then,
- Confirm if it includes it's original shipping carton, the brass weight and/or it's original remote (and if this works).
- Please provide it's cosmetic condition by including quick phone pics of the front, top, and back in your email.
- Include your very best asking price in your email. Be reasonable-the more compelling the price gives us both a better chance of successfully closing a deal.
Please, do not email with time-wasting questions like "make me an offer" and "what is it worth to you". If you're a serious seller, and expect an answer, please include your price.
Thank you for taking the time to consider letting your SCD go and help others...
