MC versus IRON MOVING cartridge

Parts and wholes. The problem of moving mass.
The involved moving parts by MC cartridge are: cantilever,
 stylus, joint pipe, tension wire and coil. There is not much
possibility to reduce mass by cantilevers and styli so
the only one is the coil. This means reducing the wire
length. The shorter the wire the lower the output. Known
champion is Ortofon MC 2000. Output 0.05 mV .
To get, say, modest output of 0. 3 mV more wire is needed.
This however increases the moving mass. Those are called
‘’low output’’ carts which also ‘’low impendance’’ .
The tension wire is seldom mentioned but its function is
not only to connect moving parts with (not moving)
generator but also to balance the cantilever /stylus combo.
This is done with the DAMPER which also determine carts
COMPLIANCE. That is how ‘’tension force’’ works.
The damper also ‘’returns’’ the cantilever/ stylus combo
to its ‘’center position’’ after moving one and the other
side of the groove.
MI kinds are much more simple to make and with less
 parts so the reduction of moving mass is much more easy.
ADC has an aluminum alloy tube of 6 mm and the
 damper at its back side. At the end of the tube an
small piece of IRON  is fastened. That is ALL.
The other benefit  next to the pressure fitted stylus without
glue is sufficient output for MM phono-pres.
NB the connection with headsell wire is different from
the usual Left andRright are  next to each other not
under each other.
