Up for sale is a fully restored Trio KA-8100 integrated amplifier. Trio was the parent company of Kenwood before they split up in the 80s and then the Kenwood name was used for USA sales, while the Trio name for overseas sales. This is a 100VAC Japanese model whose USA equivalent is the Kenwood KA-601, except the Trio also includes a MC (moving coil) phono input. Included with this amplifier, is a 1000W step down transformer, which takes the 120VAC coming from your wall outlet, and steps it down to 100VAC to correctly power the amplifier.

So what does fully restored mean? It means that:
* ALL resistors were upgraded
* ALL capacitors were upgraded (main filter caps increased from 6,800uF to 10,000uF)
* ALL diodes were replaced and in some cases, upgraded
* New protection relay
* Most all transistors were replaced except for outputs, JFETs and dual transistors
* A fuse holder (and new fuse) was added to replace soldered in fuse
* All controls were given the prerequisite Deoxit treatment
* Cover shot with Krylon Fusion, All-In-One, Hammered Black paint

The one flaw in this unit are the broken switch stems. This particular vintage of Trio/Kenwood amplifiers has skinny switch stems and rather large switch caps. If they're hit from the side with any force, they'll bend and attempting to straighten them back out results in breakage. The broken switch stems function perfectly and are easy to manipulate, but they are missing the switch caps.

Beyond that, if you can find a better sounding Trio KA-8100/Kenwood KA-601, buy it...but you won't find one.
