Parasound Halo P-5

Selling my beloved Parasound Halo P5 - 2.1 Channel Stereo Preamplifier. I am the second owner. Purchased on May 2023, used for less than one year.

The preamp is in a very good condition. Rather than a tiny scratch on the top left corner (it was already there when I bought it, see photos) it is pristine.

Kept in a smoke, pet, kids free environment.

It works perfectly and it’s packed with features (see details below from Parasound website).

Ideal preamp if you want/need to connect different sources (turntable, streamer, cd player, TV, etc.). It comes with a built-in photo stage which I have not tried but I read good reviews.

RAC and XLR inputs and outputs including Sub-out.

Initially skeptical about the Burr-Brown DAC, I was positively surprised. I do prefer it to the ESS Sabre that I have in my Eversolo DMP-A6 (which I do not like, it sounds to me too harsh and digital). The Burr-Brown sounds similar to the Geshelli J2 (which I own): smooth, thick detailed but not fatiguing.

This is a perfect all-in one machine.

Overall, it’s very natural sounding, punchy, dynamic and detailed. You can find many reviews covering all aspects of this fantastic preamp including sound signature.

Reason why for selling? I scaled up my whole system (amp, dac, and speakers), so I moved to a higher tier preamp that cost almost 5 times more.

Does the P5 sounds 5 times worse? Absolutely not (I did alot of A/B comparison). Of course, it is a bit less refined than my new preamp, a bit less airy with a slightly more narrow sound stage. It's a fantastic sounding preamp for the money.

It come with remote (not original but fully functional). I do not have the original box but I will pack in double box in a Styrofoam shell.
