Marantz Model 2 Amplifiers - 1 Pair

This fine pair of original Marantz Model 2 tube amplifiers were electrically restored by North Reading Engineering LLC.  Original Black Beauties, Bumblebee and Good-All wax-dipped capacitors (all well past life expectancy and potential trouble) have been replaced with high quality polypropylene films.  The bias supply circuit replaced with Si-based diode and associated dropping resistor.  Al-electrolytic multi-section cap replaced with CE Distribution equivalent. Bypass Al-electrolytics replaced with high quality replacements.  Resistors in the Variable Damping have been replaced.  Feedback circuit replaced with new make components.  Speaker terminal strips on both amps replaced with new make equivalents (HH Smith) .  %THD distortion plot shown is with worn tubes and shows both amplifiers with the same tube set.   Both amplifiers are in good mechanical condition, some light scratches.  This was no mere “recapping,” but a complete stem-to-stern restoration aimed at putting these amps in as near to museum quality condition as is reasonably possible at this late date. A missing knob on one has been temporarily replaced with a usable but no conforming knob. One is missing a serial number badge. Tubes are ok but recommend new preamp and phase splitters on both.
