This McIntosh MR71 was the last of the great stereo tube tuners—excelled only by the Marantz 10b tuner. The specs and information are in this pdf file: http://www.audioclassics.com/brochure/MR71.pdf
This tuner was aligned and brought up to speed by Terry DeWick in Knoxville who, second only to Modafferi, dedicates himself to upgrading the Macs. The front glass on the MR 71 has worn numerals as can be seen in the photos. It does not carry a cover (don’t believe in it), but otherwise it operates in excellent condition.
In AudioClassic terms, I would rate it as a C-1 because of the aged numbers on the glass and other minor cosmetics.
The tubed fm sound is as you have not heard before and most people have forgotten.
Prices on these tuners can range from $2000+ for pristine condition, about $1000 for C-1, and I believe $750 is more than reasonable for this unit.
