Speaker designer Pat McGinty of Meadowlark Audio makes such decisions comparatively easy. When he introduced the original Meadowlark Kestrel in the mid-1990s, McGinty had already cultivated a reputation among audiophiles in the San Diego area for designing a series of one-off speakers employing every variety of driver, loading, and crossover configuration.

The basic Shearwater is priced at $2695/pair, the Hot Rod version costs $3195/pair, and then add $500 for the premium finish!

Description: Two-way floorstanding loudspeaker with transmission-line woofer loading.
Drive-units: 1" ScanSpeak D2905/95000 fabric-dome tweeter, 7" ScanSpeak 18W8545 carbon-graphite long-throw woofer.
Crossover: 2.7kHz, first-order electrical with damped resonance shunt.
Frequency response: 35Hz-25kHz, -3dB.
Sensitivity: 88dB/2.83V/m room, white noise.
Nominal impedance: 8 ohms.
Dimensions: 40" H by 9" W by 11" D.
Shipping weight: 43 lbs each.
Premium Finish: Add $500

Condition is very good cosmetically. There are a few light marks due to years of faithful service. One of the woofers was recently replaced with a brand new one. I believe the finish to be "Figured Anigre" ($500 premium). They are absolutely beautiful!
