I have a Meridian 500 CD Transport for sale in almost perfect cosmetic condition. I purchased from the original owner. The unit serial number is 303647 and it is one of the last units produced. There are no dings or dents, the glass top is very nice and all the lettering is as new. Serial number is 303647, one of the last units produced. There are coaxial, optical and AES/EBU XLR outputs. I also have the Meridian System Remote that is an upgrade to the original remote that was supplied with the unit. I had the CDM laser mechanism on the transport replaced in March of 2008 and have the invoice from Meridian if desired (cost was $375 plus shipping). I have the factory box supplied in 2008 when Meridian returned the unit after the repair, as well as the box for the remote, along with all the original manuals for both pieces.
As part of the "full disclosure" process, the unit is sensitive to dirt/smudges on a CD and I have to keep my CD's clean or else the unit will "skip". Some CD's never do, and others will. I don't think it can be the laser after only 4 years since replacment, and I'm guessing the problem is the laser lens needs a good cleaning.
With the excellent cosmetic condition of the transport, the upgraded system remote, along with all the boxes and manuals, this would normally go for around $800, but I'm selling for $450 in the unlikely event there is a need to replace the laser mechanism. I just want everybody happy...Check my feedback and buy with confidence. By the way, I rated this a 8, I know for an older unit that is somewhat unusual, but I'm serious when I state this unit is in excellent cosmetic condition-front, sides, top, bottom and rear.
