I recommend Musical Paradise MP-301 mk3 (8 watts) INTEGRATED tube amp ($400 shipped). Gen2 and MP-301 package is a world beater sound system in my studio (32'w x 44'L x 12'H). MP-301 is dead quiet and musical. My MP-301 is upgrade RCA 6sj7 pre-amp tube ($49 from Musical paradise).
Power tubes tested with Cherry GTs,
--- Stock 6P3P is excellent (big sound & stage, good bass, good images). Stock power tube sounds beautiful.
--- 6L6 RCA clear top (NOS) is much better in every dept (with very emotional presentation). The sound stage is very 3D and very deep.
--- KT88 (Sovtek) sounds powerful (like SS amp) but dry. No magic! And Idon't like it. No need for more power (even in my big studio). Though I listened KT88 (new) only about 2 hours, I don’t think the sound character will change a lot. I could be wrong.
