Perfect condition Myryad Z140 Integrated Amp with Phonostage and Remote. Made in England. 50 WPC into 8 ohms and is stable down to 4 ohms. Audiogon 8/10 rating. Amp is in perfect condition.
A little history about the brand is in order. A trio who have extensive experience in the hi-fi business founded Myryad. Its technical director is Chris Evans, who helped co-found Arcam (called A and R Cambridge when he started it and launched the legendary A60) and later became director of technology with NAD. David Evans is in charge of production and quality control and he was also involved with making NAD products. Managing the company is Chris Short, who is the former owner of loudspeaker manufacturer Mordaunt-Short and ex-chairman of Tannoy.
The Z140 has six line-level inputs, including two for tape recorders. It has outputs for just one pair of speakers and it can drive any speaker load from four to 16 Ohms. Rare these days is the phono input, which on the Z140, is for moving magnet or high-output moving coil cartridges. However, the phono switch on this amplifier comes with an auxiliary switch that selects between the Phono and Aux inputs.
This excellent value of an amp displays a warm punchy, dynamic smooth sound characteristic of other British manufactures. Build quality is excellent and much better than Creek or NAD which I have owned. It is built like a tank with incredible binding posts and full functioning remote.
