I have a pair of nearly new Audeze EL-8 closed backs. These are the 2016 re-voiced edition. I'm the original owner and opened the box on 5/24/17. Everything is flawless, good as new. Original box, cables, certificate of authenticity, everything. Please feel free to ask questions and I will answer to the best of my ability. You may find cheaper ones online, but don't buy anything without verifying that they're the re-voiced version!

Thanks for your question. Audeze has been making the EL-8s for some years now but they were met with some criticism--reviewers loved the build quality, fit and finish, but they just didn't sound like what you'd expect a headphone in that price range to sound like. Audeze did sort of a stealth revision in 2016 and began using a new driver with a different sound signature resolving the issues with the older version. Compared to the older model, the newer "re-voiced" version has more bass with a smoother transition into the mids. I also found the older models to be bright and fatiguing, but not in a highly resolving and analytical way like the Sennheiser HD800s. This is also resolved. In my opinion, the 2016 EL-8s are a very competent competitor in this price range. They have a somewhat neutral presentation with well extended bass and highs. They have very good transparency but definitely lack that kind of "airiness" you get from an open headphone. It's two standout features, imho, are excellent instrument separation and ludicrous levels of passive isolation. |
