Pass Labs Integrated Amp INT-30A Class A Best Value

This amplifier is the “jewel in the crown”. Based on the XA30.5, the INT-30A provides wattage with all the finesse and delicacy that Class A operation has long been famous for. Best with speakers of 87 dB efficiency or greater, spectacular with difficult speaker loads such as electrostatics or planars in small systems.

While I agree with the above description from the Pass Labs website, what they don’t tell you is how marvelous this amp really is. IMHO it’s the best value in their entire line. For all practical purposes it’s like getting a XA30.5 amplifier with high quality pre-amp all in one solidly built chassis.

The amp has both rca and xlr input connectors. It also features rca & xlr pre-amp outputs for use with a subwoofer or external processor. Should you ever crave more power you can buy Nelson’s massive mono-blocks and use this as a 60 lb “pre-amp”. The remote control allows you to adjust volume, balance and source selection from the comfort of your listening position.

I purchased the amplifier from a Pass Labs authorized dealer in April 2011. It has been well cared for and used in a pet free, non-smoking household. I am selling the integrated amplifier due to system changes.

The player is in excellent cosmetic and operational shape. I’m rating it as an 8 but it’s really closer to a 9. Have a look at my agon feedback and you will see that I am quite conservative in my ratings.

In my system the INT-30A surprised me with its robust power reserves and startling dynamics. I didn’t think a 30 watt amp could have that much iron fisted control over my woofers. But beyond mere muscle the INT-30A was always musically engaging and cast a deep soundstage with palpable imaging.

If you are looking for an integrated amplifier that features a suave and sophisticated sound coupled with formidable reserves of power, look no further. At this price it is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the vast amount of musical content you have collected all these years.
