The Anthem sounds as good as the very best receivers on the market...right out of the box.  However, once you run ARC, it becomes so far superior in terms of soundstage, presence and timing that movie soundtracks come to life.  Not recommended for horror films as it will freak you out when sounds are coming from places you'd never expect!
