"As part of RCA's "The Power of" Living Stereo LP series came this recording with organist, Robert Owen, giving us an incredible display of his talent at the Christ Church Organ in Bronxville, New York. Recordings of Robert Owen are "off the map" these days". - Organ Loft Collection. "This record was issued as part of a package with another legendary LP entitled "The Power of the Orchestra". While this LP has faded into obscurity, the latter has been a sensation since it was released in 1963 as part of RCA Victor's Living Stereo classical series." - TAS Listening Notes. This is an RCA "Shaded Dog" Living Stereo recording from approx. 1963. This is a fairly Early Pressing with 1S/4S as part of the LP's Matrix. The RCA "Dogs" are considered to be of true Audiophile quality. This recording is no exception. BACH: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor LISZT: Prelude and Fugue on B.A.C.H. WIDOR: Toccata in F Major from ìSymphony No. 5î REGER: Benedictus ALAIN: Litanies The record is Exc-. The Jacket is VG+. The LP plays/sounds NM-. As impressive as it's 'Bigger Brother' (Power of the Orchestra) is, this recording - sold as part of a set along with 'Power of the Orchestra' - is just as impressive, although done in a somewhat smaller venue. The acoustic sgnature and spatial cues are captured remarkably well, giving one the impression that 'you are there'. The power of the Pipe Organ is aptly presented with wall-shaking Bass and the unique sound only this instrument can generate. This recording, while being infinitely enjoyable and listenable, would make a perfect addition/match for someone who already owns it's counterpart (Orchestra) or just loves powerful Organ Music. Surface noise is generally 'crackles' which are random and present mostly on quiet passages. They are most prominent on 2nd track of Side 1 and less frequent on the rest of the record. While audible, they do not detract in any significant way from the Music. Each record is washed on a VPI cleaning machine using a proprietary 3-5 agent process which is determined by the needs of the individual record. Each record is then listened to 100% to insure that the posted description is exactly what you can expect to get. NOTE!
