(Doug Sax, producer. Bill Schnee, producer, engineer. Lincoln Mayorga, executive producer. Steve Haselton, chief engineer for Sheffield Lab. Recorded December 15 and 17, 1980, Sheffield Lab Studios at MGM, Culver City. California.)

This famous direct to disk recording has been on the The Absolute Sound list of great .LP recordings since its release in 1981. As a D2D release it was, by its nature, a limited edition. This is the original release, not any later version. Sealed - Mint.

Two famous drummers, individually, perform free solo improvisations. They are Ron Tutt, most well known as Elvis Presley's drummer, and Jim Keltner, former member of Gary Lewis and the Playboys and musical collaborator with John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan and many others.

The International Audio Review praised the Drum Record: "The sonic fidelity of the Sheffield Drum record is enthralling, and its value for learning about your system makes it a must."

"Sheffield's Drum Record emerges as a landmark—a technological tour de force that should discourage anyone else from issuing a similar disc until the state of the art advances by a few more years.

"This, in short is a doozey! A real workout for any system, and my prime candidate as of now as the best leasebreaker since Emory Cook's old Speed the Parting Guest recording. And while I am usually hesitant to make such recommendations, I am recommending that this be played LOUDLY. If your system can take it. (If it can't, I assume no responsibility for catastrophic failures.)"—J. Gordon Holt
