A nice, basic power amp with sufficient power for most needs.
Amps in this power range are often not as sought after because they do not have 100 wpc or 200 or whatever. And yet most applications do not actually need that much power.

Every now and again we get a piece in here that begs the question - Did these folks ever actually use this thing? This is one of those, is is beautifully kept and also has not been used in a number of years, stored in the original box.
A very satisfying component overall.

Stereophile may have put it best:
"For the baby Adcom is one of the finest solid-state amps I have heard. This humble $300 amplifier was driving a pair of very revealing $3000 speakers and giving a very good account of itself."
The sales manager from Adcom had brought over a GFA535 for me to listen to.
"So how come this product isn't flying off the dealers' shelves?" I asked.
"I don't know. Everyone wants the GFA555 with 200 watts per channel. Including people who don't need it."
"Does the GFA-555 sound any better?" I asked.
"It's our aim to have all our amps sound pretty much the same. You pay more money, you get more power."
