Adcom GFA 545 Stereo Power amplifier

The Adcom GFA-545 is an extraordinary amp. One of the first to use bipolar transistors.
This robust amplifier is capable of operating into very low impedance or difficult speaker loads due in part to its high current design.  It is based on a triple Darlington configuration and uses no protection or current limiting circuitry other than the fuses used inthe DC power supply voltage rails.

I recommend using a tubed preamp with it and
audiophile quality cables and interconnects. It is a top quality amp, revealing of any 
weaknesses in the chain. Damping factor is
high, so controls bass like a champ.

This particular unit has been upgraded with high quality audio grade capacitors and low noise metal film resistors in working driver, output stage, and power supply circuits for greater musical clarity.  Fuses have been replaced with high quality audiophile pure silver fuses. Areas targeted during upgrade included the input circuitry, feedback loop, output stage biasing, output stage & power supply  bypassing. The main power supply received soft recovery bridge rectifiers for drastically reduced switching noise for a quieter background. 
The unit was checked for DC offset, adjusted bias, and subjected to  extended listening tests.



Lovely sound, hard to say it is a solid state amp Great detailed and open soundstage. Built like a tank!!
