Harman Kardon Citation 25 Preamplifier

Here for auction is a rare Harman/Kardon Citation Twenty-Five Preamplifier. From H/K’s heyday as a premium brand, it’s all analog in the signal chain. Notable features include:

* Symmetrical circuitry throughout

* Ultra-Wide open loop bandwidth with low negative feedback

* Phase correct loudness circuitry

* 2-way turnover tone controls (200 and 400 for bass, 2kHz and 6kHz for treble) plus bypass

* Extremely flexible input and dubbing capabilities

* Phono inputs for both Moving Coil and Moving Magnet cartridges

* Front headphone jack

This unit is in fine condition. To my knowledge, everything works, though I’ve never run moving coil cartridges and it’s been a while since I’ve used the phono input. (My turntable - Thorens TD 145 II is currently running off a second system.) This is a heavy, well-built unit (20 lbs.) Secondary controls are behind a drop-down panel, which work smoothly. (Capacitance trim adjustment for MM cartridges, and resistance trim adjustment for MC cartridges are on the back.) 

The unit can be controlled by remote control, but I don’t have H/K’s remote. Some universal remotes should be able to work with this unit. It’s just a shame to let it sit unused, so it’s offered to someone who will appreciate it. Includes a photocopy of the original instruction manual. Sold as is given its vintage. Unit will be well packed and shipped UPS, though local pickup in DC is welcome. No reserve auction, but don’t wait to the last minute to bid as it may be sold locally and withdrawn.
