For
parts or repair. McIntosh integrated amplifier that is in excellent shape
cosmetically (hence the rating). Originally sold for $1200 in 1978. I have owned it for about 10 years. Serviced for $400 at Audio
Classics in October 2015 when it was cleaned and bulbs were replaced along with
several capacitors and other parts. There are no bubbles under the glass in the black face
paint. I like these amplifiers (I own 2 of them) and I am only selling this one
because it has a persistent low level hum that I am told requires either
re-winding or replacing the transformer. The hum is soft enough that in a
moderately noisy environment it is inaudible, but in my kitchen it is easily
heard. Minus the hum, MA6200’s in this good shape are currently selling for
$1000, so it is your option to fix it or to use it for parts. At this price, fixing
it makes sense, but I am ready to move on. Comes with the original sales
receipt from 1978. I strongly prefer not to ship, but would be willing to
consider doing so if an appropriate double container is obtained from Audio
Classics. The original McIntosh wood cabinet shown in the photo is available
for an additional $100. If shipped, the amplifier and cabinet will be packed
separately. Questions are welcomed. Thanks for looking.
