Nova Electro-Acoustics CPA-100A JFET Control Preamplifier

US made, the Nova was purchased new from
designer/owner Electro-Acoustics Dick Schoener in Santa Barbara
California on 3/24/88. The $2,300.00 price included optional Tiffany connectors. Later in the year, the Nova was returned to Schoener, for the "A" upgrade: Black Gate power supply capacitors and a second pair of
Tiffany outputs, which allows for bi-amping or adding sub-woofer(s). Nova
Electro-Acoustics pioneered the use of Black Gate electrolytic capacitors
in commercial consumer audio equipment in the United States.  

A Nova preamp was The Absolute Sound's longtime reviewer
Dr. Robert E. Greene's (REG) reference preamplifier during the late
80's. Stereophile's Art Dudley, in an October 2003 issue, referenced
the Nova as "brilliant." A full copy of Dudley's 1987
Hi-Fi HERETIC Issue #7 review of the Nova is available along with the
excellent Owner's Manual, and ancillary documents.

I am rating the condition of the Nova
as a 7 out of 10 due only to its age and minor scratches on the bottom of the unit. Otherwise, it is in excellent
running and cosmetic condition.  The asking price may appear steep, but also consider the Nova includes a terrific phono stage preamp, an expectation of that era.  Original shipping box is a bit musty
smelling from being left empty in damp cellar. Shipping will be
double boxed for shipping safety and insured.
