Odyssey Audio Tempest Extreme Preamplifier

Selling a very nice condition Odyssey Audio Tempest Extreme preamplifier. This preamplifier comes with a very good MM phono section and a pretty good MC section as well. It features an additional three inputs and comes with a simple remote control (only controls Vol + and -). Tape loop is also included. I am rating this a 7/10 because there is a very very slight hum that comes from the unit when powered up. No audible hum through speakers, the unit is dead quiet in that respect. In 99% of rooms the hum from the power supply won't be noticeable but in the cement vault known as my basement listening room, it does come through a little.

From a sound quality perspective, this unit is very impressive. It's a rocker for sure but has no problem with classical, jazz, and genres requiring finesse and grace. I wouldn't say it's neutral, it has just the littlest edge to it that brings visceral energy to recordings. If anything it's a tad warm. It's got a good amount of gain so should work well with just about any setup.

Reason for selling: I'm selling most of my system to reinvest that money into my house/family and putting some old gear in place for now. I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Thank you.
