Rotel RB-990BX amp, RC-990BX preamp, RCD-975 CD player, set or by piece

Rare, complete and gorgeous set of Rotel's flagship gear, including the last Japanese made "990 BX" series amplifier and preamplifier, plus CD player, all in original boxes with original Rotel system remote.

RLC-900 line conditioner (pictured) is not included but available for an additional $120.00.

Perfect operationally and near mint cosmetically. Single, non-smoking audiophile owner, kept in closed Salamander Synergy cabinet. Even the remote appears nearly new.

Set includes

RB-990BX AMPLIFIER (serial #226801) complete with factory packaging (double cartons) and manual. Rated at 200 watts per channel and 120 amps of peak current, Audio Critic actually tested it close to 300 watts per channel and 211 amps of peak current (Issue No. 20). Yes, that is more current than a Bryston 4B-ST. Originally $1,100, this was the last Japanese made amplifier before Rotel began manufacturing the RB-991 and -1080 in China.

RC-990BX PREAMPLIFIER (serial #198662) complete with factory packaging (double cartons), remote control (also mint), and manual. Flagship remote controlled preamplifier with superb built in phono stage (later omitted in the -995 and -1090, and probably worth the price of the preamp by itself). This is a beautifully piece made with premium capacitors and oversized transformer. Much higher build quality that the competing Adcom GFP-565 (which it routinely trounced in listening tests). Originally $900. Includes remote.

RCD-975 CD PLAYER (serial #637 48264) complete with factory packaging and copy of owner's manual. Once top of the line Rotel CD player/transport with dual continuous calibration DACSs (one per channel) and coaxial digital output. Originally $750. From Audio/Video Revolution (11/2000): "At $750 (USD) the Rotel RCD 975 isn't cheap, but its performance is way above its price range." I used it as a transport with a Benchmark DAC 1 with terrific results.

I doubt you can find any of these components in nicer condition with all packaging. Originally $2,700 ($4,833 in 2017 dollars according to CPI inflation calculator), I believe $1,080 is consistent with what these would sell for individually. You would obviously have to spend thousands more on new gear that would approach this build/sound quality. Also available on ebay, so this ad may be removed at any time.
