411 is a highly rated step-up transformer that allows one to use a low output
moving coil phono cartridge with a low-gain phonostage that would otherwise
require a high-output cartridge. Simply
plug the unit between the output of your tonearm and the input to your
phonostage via the high quality RCA connectors and you are good to go. The Shelter adds 32 dB of gain and the phonostage/preamp
takes care of the RIAA equalization curve and volume control. Through its use of extremely efficient
shielding (Mu-metal), the Shelter 411 MC Step-Up Transformer provides
outstanding signal-to-noise making it an ideal combination for even the lowest
output MC cartridges. This transformer is new in
the box. I purchased it from the Cable
Company, but while waiting several months while it was backordered at the
factory, I bought a VAC Signature Mk IISE preamp with a high-gain phonostage
making the Shelter superfluous in my system.
The transformer has been sitting on my shelf since May, 2016 and needs
to find a home where it will be used.
I have priced this unit to
sell fast and the asking price is well below what you will find anywhere, even
for a well-used example. Paypal is the
preferred method of payment and I will cover the fees. Unfortunately, due to my past experiences
with forged bank checks from A’gon buyers, payment by check or money order will
delay shipment until check clears the bank clearinghouse (10 working days)-
sorry. Please contact me with any questions.
