Truly one of the best mid-priced speaker cables out there, Gibraltar have a hint of natural warmth compared to the cheaper CV-4 and CV-8, with greater richness, and more detail, while retaining AudioQuest's hallmark neutrality. These are a big step up from the Star Quad and Rocket series. They have been replaced by Castle Rock, which AQ introduced to freshen up its line, but the design is basically the same.
Each half of the twin lead houses a helical wind of four solid ultra-pure Perfect Surface Copper+ conductors, while the overall twin-lead layout keeps the two sets magnetically separated. Red copper connectors plated with silver.
"The Gibraltars caught me off guard with their subtlety and nuance... Tonally, the AQs were slightly to the warm side of neutral and a bit bigger on the bottom." Brian Damkroger, Stereophile
"An excellent value." John Atkinson, Stereophile.
