I have a very special rack for sale here. This three shelf Critical Mass Systems PXK rack with three Black Sapphire shelves/filters (each shelf is 21.5" by 21.5" with the inside supported/isolated/filtered area is 19" by 19") was owned/used by my close old friend Bobby Palkovic (Merlin Music Systems) who passed in August of 2015. Bobby was a long time supporter, fan and user of Joe Lavrencik's Critical Mass Platforms and racks and any search of Merlin CES or RMAF show suites pictures over the years will show various gear sitting on Critical Mass platforms/stands. The pictures of this very rack fully assembled in this ad are from the 2012 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest around when when Bobby/Merlin received it. For several years after that, this rack was used at Merlin Music Systems by Bobby where it served as the reference rack for the Merlin's main system used to evaluate, test, and break in all Merlin Speakers made during that time.

Unfortunately, during its time at Merlin due to the daily use the rack saw, the tops of the platforms have received some scratches. Also, apparently whatever cleaning agent Bobby (or the shops janitor) used to clean the rack, reacted with the anodized finish and discolored portions of the triangle shelf support frame/brackets (the pictures clearly show this). So, cosmetically the condition of the rack is only fair (6/10)  to my eyes. Functionally, the stand is in full working order and is complete with all its hardware, discs, screws, spikes cones etc. The Sapphire filters are about 2" thick and the outer dimensions of the rack are 26.5" wide by 22.5" deep. Shelf spacing is about 8" on the upper shelf and about 16" on the lower (larger spaced) shelf/platform (the rack is not currently assembled, so the shelf spacing measurements are a educated guess). The Critical Mass filters (shelves) if you have not heard them work great in removing a layer of fuzz/hash that you may not realize your gear has until you sit it on these platforms. Your gear will gain clarity, musicality, dynamics and more.

What makes this rack such a special value, is that Joe Lavrencik, owner/president of Critical Mass Systems, to honor Bobby's memory and his long time support has VERY kindly offered to update the Sapphire filters to their most current version (MKIII) and address/repair the cosmetic issues that the filters and rack brackets has AT NO CHARGE  TO THE BUYER of this rack. My asking price INCLUDES shipping to Critical Mass Systems and the BUYER pays shipping from Critical Mass Systems to them. My asking price is a firm and VERY reasonable price of $2,950 considering the rack/filters will be updated at no charge. Serious inquires only please.

The rack is complete in its original factory packaging (7 boxes total), so figure shipping costs will be around $200 because of the size and quantity of boxes. Once the buyer makes payment, we will ship the whole rack (all boxes/items) to Critical Mass Systems. We will provide the buyer with tracking information and proof of shipment to Critical Mass Systems where the rack will be updated and the cosmetic issues addressed to restore the rack to as close to new condition as possible.
