Purchased in 2005, this is a first generation VR series base. It was built for my Sony XA777es SACD player, which measured about 17" wide x 14" deep and weighed about 40 pounds, with a majority of the weight toward the rear. To perform as intended, it should be used with a component with very similar characteristics.
