The REL R-218 was introduced in 2011 as "a maximum value proposition in the entire REL product range possessing many of the performance attributes of our legendary Reference Sub-Bass Systems (per REL)". Pricewise, it sat above the T5 series($599) at $1300. Size-wise, it's roughly a 12" cube which probably best belongs in a moderate size room setting. I have seen audiophile sites suggesting that it is a good match, for example, with KEF LS-50's.
For the aficionado, I suggest a search for "absolute sound REL R-218" which reveals the "rel.net/reviews-archive/" which then lists three quite favorable "Serie R" review links. The REL R-218 was a 2013 Absolute Sound Editors Choice. The Hi-Fi+ link provides an unusually informative review as well as the Absolute Sound review by Neil Gader.
I purchased this unit about a year ago (from the original owner) to use with Quad ESL-63's but never quite got around to repairing my Quads and have since moved on to other toys so it's going on the block.
As indicated in the pictures, there are a couple of chips(one significant) on the top of the otherwise attractive black lacquer top (see close-ups) if such things bother you). It works perfectly. In case you are not familiar with REL, their preferred hookup for serious stereo listening is via a High Level (speaker level) Neutrik Speakon cable (included). Concurrent support is also provided for a separate "LFE .1" low level (RCA) input for 5.1/7.1 theater applications.
Original box and Owners manual included. Shipping from Atlanta to NJ about a year ago was about $40 but local pickup/delivery preferred. PayPal preferred. Buyer pays shipping
