TAD driver custom speakers made by Kevin Brooks [Expired]
I got these speakers from my friend Kevin Brooks. They use TAD 1602 woofers and TAD 4001 compression drivers. You wouldn't believe how they were made. The front baffles are 3" thick and the sides and back 2" thick baltic birch plywood not MDF folks. Then finished in walnut with an oil stain. He paid dearly for the antique grill cover material. I also had the foam redone on the woofers recently. I'm going to sell them cheap because they are so big and heavy and will be a big deal to ship. I can't pack them so you will have to live near me so I can deliver with my truck in two trips or arrange moving them. I will throw in a Madisound Sledgehammer 24db crossover but you will have to biamp. You are getting them for basically the cost of drivers. That tractrix horn is Solid walnut and you can hardly pick it up. Kevin never builds anything for himself that isn't "cost no object". He's the most impressive audiophile I ever met. He didn't use them much and went on to other projects as usual and I did also. So I've been storing them for 6 years.
They are one of a kind and were built by a cabinet maker in Salt Lake City for him costing over $6000.00. I don't know what they weigh but they are heavy. They are 30" wide, 65" tall and 24" deep. I put casters on the bottom to make moving them a little easier. I tried to load 5 pictures on my ad but Audiogon's new system didn't take any of them. Just send me your email address and I can send pictures directly. I rated them a 6 because they are a one of kind home made speaker not a commercial product. Don't ask for specs or performance figures please. Also remember I can't just box them up and ship them. I've been storing them for 6+ years waiting for the time to find them a new home.
