Nakamichi CR-4 2 decks for the price of 1! They need some TLC, please read. Great deal for someone capable of working on them.

OK, so more stuff from the collection. Here are a couple of my favorite Nakamichi decks, the CR-4. I say they are some of my favorites for these reasons... Direct Drive Double Capstan, gear drive vs idler for FF/REW, simple bias/calibration setup, Dolby B/C, nice level meters with decent range, small size, and most importantly, that famous Nakamichi sound. They do sound incredible.

So, here's the info. The bottom deck in the picture plays, records, and functions well. It has been repaired at some point in it's life, and it could probably use a good cleaning. The top deck in the picture will sometimes stop randomly. This usually happens with larger length tapes as you get towards the end of the tape. It's funny because it is a symptom normally associated with idler wheel failure, but these are gear driven units (at least that is my understanding).

Both units have some nicks, scratches, small dings, but not revolting. If you have been in the market for any decent Nakamichi decks you'll recognize that $300 for 2 of these is a spectacular deal. For the technically efficient person, you could get both of them performing to spec, sell one and basically end up with a free one. They usually sell for anywhere between $300 to $450 depending on condition, and that is for 1 unit, not 2.

When I acquired these I had intended to have them both properly fixed up, but that never happened and I have way too much other gear and way too many projects to ever get around to these so I am letting someone else have them instead of letting them collect dust.

I am selling them as is and as described. They will be well packed, most likely in a single box, but if I use a single box it will be large enough to provide plenty of protective packing material between the decks. I may even box each deck individually then put both of those boxes into one larger box, that will depend on what kind of boxes I can get my hands on. Rest assured they will arrive just as you see them now.

Due to the size and weight (2 decks, not 1) the FedEx ground insured shipping (lower 48 states only) is set at $60. If it is less I will refund the difference, if it is more I will cover it.

I will do my best to ship these as soon as possible after they are sold, however I will not compromise on the packing so it might cause a short delay, most likely not more that 1 day after cleared PayPal payment is received.
