Technics SL 1200 MK 2 Turntable Black, All Original [Expired]

no longer for sale

I'm offering for sale a very nice Technics SL 1200 Mk. 2 in black. The serial number and various other clues yield a build date of November 1997. This 'table is all original (no mods), however there is no headshell, mats, nor cartridge included. The 45 rpm adapter and dustcover are included. The tonearm works and tracks as it should, there is no play anywhere. All of the lights (strobe, pop-up, pitch adjust) work as well. There are a few small surface scratches on the deck itself, with one larger scuff on the front left as I have tried to show in the pictures. The pictures really do make it look worse than it is -- I know you have to take my word on this one but I believe that this deck is quite presentable. I would not say that this 'table looks "used" or "well-worn", etc. Now, the weak part is the dustcover. There are lots of fine scratches, and a couple significant scratches. Basically, it's a 10-footer (as they say in the car world) but the hardware and front pad are still there. New ones are easily available for $30-40 on the web if you deem it necessary. The spindle bearing was just lubricated with the correct proprietary oil, and this table sounds great as is. It is also a good basis for your modified projects. This 1200 was never gigged or DJ-ed, it has always been used in a home stereo setting. I'm relatively new to AudiogoN and I want to do the best job I can to assure potential buyers that they are getting exactly what is described. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Shipping: I have successfully shipped several 'tables so this one will be packed very, very well. The dustcover will probably ship in a separate box. If we use USPS Parcel Post, it should be in the area of $25-$35. Local pickup is available as well. Seller is responsible for shipping costs. That being said, if you prefer FedEx or UPS over USPS, I'd be willing to go that route as well. I will not be able to ship between the 10th and 20th of March. Thanks for looking! I'm not interested in any trades at the moment, and low ball offers will be politely ignored.
