I purchased the unit new in March of 2014. Has been well cared for in a smoke-free environment. This was my first high-end preamp, and I really enjoyed it's vintage sound, which is very dependent on your selection of the 6SN7 tube. That is why I am selling the nice collection of 6SN7 tubes I have acquired for the preamp. Here they are based on the numbers shown in the photograph:
1. Tung Sol "Round Plate" (rare, paid $200 for this clean one) 2. RCA "Gray Glass" - 6SN7-GT VT-231 (warmer sound than the Tung-Sol, a favorite) 3. Sylvania "Bad Boy" (3 rivet hole plates) 4. Westinghouse 6SN7GTB 5. Sylvania JAN CHS 6SN7WGT "Brown Base" 6. Sylvania 6SN7GT (looks like Bad Boy, 2 rivet hole plates) 7. Sylvania 6SN7GTA "Short Bottle, Chrome Dome"
Not shown is a Philco rectifier tube I purchased to try versus the Motorola the unit came with; a subtle difference in sound compared to rolling the 6SN7. Also included is a nice Herbie's tube damper ring which fits the 6SN7's. The value of the extras is conservatively estimated at $400.
