AMC CVT-1030 Highly Modified Tube Line Stage Preamp

Selling my much loved AMC CVT1030 tube preamp. I have modified it substantially and it performs like a champ. It no longer has a working phono stage, as I disconnected it. It was solid state and not very good.

New coupling and bootstrap caps are M-Cap and ClarityCap. Electrolytics are all 105 degree type for long life. Rectifier diodes on the HT supply are fast recovery type.

Take a look at the photos and ask questions. The input selector knob stands a little proud - the shaft could be trimmed, but it is a new switch that controls the relays I added. It doesn't affect operation or bother me.

All electrolytics and coupling caps have been replaced and I have added grid stopper resistors to all tube grids for additional stability. All input and output connectors have been rewired. I also added tube sockets.

No warranty is offered, but it will leave my house well packed and functioning perfectly. I will offer the purchaser a small choice of tubes.

This preamp also has a solid state headphone amp after the tube stage which sounds quite nice.

It has tone controls that are in the feedback loop and can be switched in or out of circuit.

It also has a new volume pot (the old one is glued to the PCB and can be wired as a balance control or used to reduce input sensitivity).

There is a turn on/turn off sequence that you will need to follow with this unit (and for most tube preamps). If you are not prepared for this, please do not offer to buy it.

This things sounds GREAT and is much quieter than stock. I have a PDF copy of the service manual and schematics.

6/10 grading is only because it is a fairly old unit and has DIY mods. Photos show some dust.
